Le Barn Hotel is located 50 km outside of Paris and offers a great retreat in the woods. It’s a perfect mid-ride stop, especially with their cyclist special — €7 for a coffee and an assortment of treats. I’ve previously featured a 100 km route, but this time I decided to create an extended version.

The route heads toward Gif-sur-Yvette, following the classic route, which is a bit nicer than my original 100 km version. From there, you climb out of the valley to the south and make your way to Saint-Chéron, which lies about 10 km east of Dourdan. There is a nice mix of forest, fields and villages as you approach Le Barn, arriving there at the 80 km mark — almost exactly halfway.

After a coffee and some snacks at Le Barn, you continue on toward Rambouillet through the forest. The route passes right by the château if you want to stop, or you can continue straight on to Vaux-de-Cernay. After cruising along one of my favorite roads, the route leads to my favorite climb — 17 Turns. As you approach Versailles, the route cuts east through Buc and past the aqueduct. After a quick climb up Meudon, it’s just a fast rip along the quai back to the café.
