Dreux may not be high on your list of destinations, but it makes for a pleasant 100 km ride with a train back to Paris.

The route heads out along the quai and takes the direct climb up through Sèvres. From there, you continue through Buc, descend to Châteaufort, and drop into the Chevreuse valley. The route cuts across the valley on the southern, more scenic road before heading farther south and climbing out toward Rambouillet. You pass right in front of the château, and the town offers plenty of refuel options coming conveniently just past the halfway mark.
Leaving Rambouillet, you cut slightly north to take a great forest path that also appears in my Quatre Forêts à Rambouille, just this time in reverse. After the path, you continue through the woods on regular roads. The final 25 km are mostly open farmland with a few rolling sections and decently nice roads.
The route brings you into the Dreux city center, past the cathedral and several more refuel options, before you finish at the train station. The return to Paris is on Line N; it’s outside the usual zones, so you’ll need a ticket, but the ride back only takes about an hour.
